The new Royal Decree, published this month in the Official State Gazette (BOE), takes things a step further by requiring companies to redesign their packaging to meet strict recyclability and traceability standards.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1220\"><strong data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1220\">Key changes introduced by the new regulation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1222\" data-end=\"1772\">\n<li data-start=\"1222\" data-end=\"1372\">\n<p data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1372\"><strong data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1256\">Mandatory full recyclability<\/strong>: All packaging must be technically recyclable under the actual conditions of the Spanish waste management system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1373\" data-end=\"1516\">\n<p data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1516\"><strong data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1400\">Compulsory eco-design<\/strong>: Materials must support mechanical recycling, avoiding additives, pigments, and elements that hinder the process.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1517\" data-end=\"1636\">\n<p data-start=\"1519\" data-end=\"1636\"><strong data-start=\"1519\" data-end=\"1549\">Clear labeling and marking<\/strong>: New symbols and identification systems will help consumers separate waste properly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1772\">\n<p data-start=\"1639\" data-end=\"1772\"><strong data-start=\"1639\" data-end=\"1656\">Reuse targets<\/strong>: In certain sectors, such as logistics and distribution, reusable packaging with return systems will be encouraged.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1774\" data-end=\"1983\">These measures will affect manufacturers, packers, distributors, and retailers.
